Education Support Officer

Reporting to two Program Coordinators, the Education Support Officer is responsible for the provision of support within the GPEx AGPT team in the delivery of education and training program activities for registrars training in South Australia.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Provide high-quality administrative support to the Program Coordinators related to the delivery of the training program and associated activities utilising the Microsoft suite of products and in-house developed IT systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by telephone, email or in person to registrars, general practice staff, supervisors and medical educators.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data entry on the GPEx CRM system.
  • Monitor each registrar’s assessment submission on the in-house platform, providing a status update to the Program Coordinator and Medical Educator, and support follow-up as required.
  • Maintain regular contact with medical educators, registrars, supervisors and practice managers to ensure they have continued access to online resources.
  • Support the Program Coordinators in the delivery of monthly regional education workshops and other events.
  • Manage a small portfolio of education activities from the GPEx Training Program.
  • Organise and schedule practice visits.
  • Out of hours work and/or regional overnight travel (intrastate) may be required

Essential skills and experience  

  • Exceptional customer and client service skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Suite, including experience with databases, spreadsheets and information systems
  • Experience in coordinating events
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills with initiative to manage competing priorities
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with experience in liaising and negotiating with stakeholders of all levels
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Meeting chair and secretariat skills
  • Experience in education or medical fields will be viewed as favourable

Rural Medical Educator – South East

The Medical Educator leads a group of registrars within the AGPT program to positively impact communities on route to becoming fellows of their prospective colleges. Facilitating a range of educational activities, while working closing with the Director and Deputy Director of Medical Education, and other GPEx staff.

Reporting to the Deputy Director Medical Education, this role’s core responsibilities include;

  • Lead a group of registrars to successful completion of their requirements to fellowship
  • Assist with review, development and facilitation of workshops and other educational resources, as directed.
  • Monitor assessments and registrar progress direct observation visits for registrars as appropriate.
  • Attendance at Registrar Performance Review Committee / Medical Educator meetings held every three months, where face-to-face is not possible this will be done via video or teleconferencing.
  • Contribute to review, development and facilitation of exam preparation workshops during the education year.
  • Involvement in career events for medical students and junior doctors as directed.
  • Participate in the registrar selection process
  • Assist with and contribute to GPEx’s ongoing review and planning of GPEx’s training activities and research that ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Contribute to GPEx internal and external communications.

Essential skills and experience 

  • Fellowed General Practitioner in active rural clinical practice
  • Passion for training and coaching future General Practitioners
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills when dealing with registrar performance and development
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The position is part-time (0.2 FTE) and will be located in or around South Eastern South Australia.
