Port Augusta is known as the “Crossroads of Australia”, with roads from the city leading to Perth, Sydney, Darwin and Adelaide. Located at the top of Spencer Gulf, the town has elegant old buildings, and a revitalised waterfront precinct. With a population of 13,808 people, Port Augusta has many schools, banks, department stores, supermarkets, gyms, and a cinema. Local industries include tourism, horticulture, and electricity generation. The town is also the perfect base to explore the rest of the region, including the Flinders Ranges, Outback, and Eyre Peninsula.
