Loxton on the banks of the River Murray

About the Riverland

Located along the Murray River, the Riverland is renowned for its stunning ochre coloured cliffs, breathtaking scenery, and vibrant landscapes.

With a relaxed pace of living, the Riverland is a three-hour drive from Adelaide, with regular flights to Berri and Renmark also available. The major towns of Renmark, Berri, Loxton, Waikerie and Barmera offer residents extensive facilities and shopping outlets, and the region is serviced by numerous 24-hour ferries to assist with crossing the Murray River.

The Riverland is one of Australia’s largest wine-producing regions, but is also a significant producer of almonds, fruit and vegetables. Many of this local produce can even be purchased directly from the growers and markets at the Riverland Farmers Market.

There are many recreational activities to enjoy, especially water sports (water-skiing, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking), motorsports, houseboat cruises, and innovative cellar door, brewery and distillery experiences.

The Riverland also hosts a number of festivals, including the Renmark Rose Festival, the Loxton Christmas Lights Festival, and the Riverland Food and Wine Festival.

Fun Fact: The Riverland is home to the national rose collection and the largest rose garden in Australia – Ruston’s Rose Garden and Visitor Centre has more than 4000 rose varieties planted in 26 acres.
