At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1.Describe an approach to a detailed cognitive assessment for the older patient with memory or behaviour concerns
2. Explain both the ethical and legal concepts of capacity and consent and how these apply to the patient with cognitive impairment
3. Formulate a management plan for the patient with escalating behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia
4. List the main medications used in the management of Alzheimer’s dementia, including their efficacy and side effects
