hepatitis C – all the GP needs to know

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the spectrum of liver disease, in particular non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
2. Outline the epidemiology of hepatitis C, including the rates of patients progressing to liver cirrhosis, liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma.
3. Interpret investigations relating to liver disease, including different patterns of liver function tests and hepatitis serology.
4. Develop a plan for the safe long-term management, including monitoring of a patient with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
