Lyell McEwin Hospital: 8th Rural GP Anaesthetic Refresher Course

Lyell McEwin Hospital presents a two day conference which is significant both in lecture content and workshops.  The lectures will include an opportunity to discuss the Rural GP Diploma of Anaesthesia and the future of rural GP Anaesthesia with the Chairman of the Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA), Dr Stuart Prosser and the Chair of ACRRM Rural General Anaesthetics (RGA) working group, Dr Neil Beaton.

National experts will discuss anaphylaxis, malignant hyperthermia, airway issues and other anaesthetic emergencies. Emergency workshops accredited by the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) will also be provided and recognised by the JCCA. These include CICO, anaphylaxis, Advanced Life Support (ALS) and major haemorrhage.

A neonatal resuscitation workshop will be organised by the neonatologist team, and is expected to fill quickly.

The course will be approved by JCCA, RACGP and ACRRM CPD program. It will also be eligible for the anaesthesia procedural grant.
