Professional Shakib is a professor of clinical pharmacology at the University of Adelaide and a clinician within Central Adelaide Local Health Network (LHN).

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the risks and consequences of polypharmacy
  2. Identify tools for assessing patients with polypharmacy
  3. Identify particular medicines that present significant risks to older patients
  4. Analyse complex patient cases involving polypharmacy to determine appropriate action, including de-prescribing where beneficial
