Recreational Drugs – Patient Harm Reduction Management

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe patterns of substance use, including evolving definitions of abuse and dependence
2. Discuss amphetamines and so-called “newly emerging psychoactive substances”, including patterns of use, toxicity presentations and toxicity management
3. Formulate a safe management plan for a patient presenting with amphetamine toxicity
4. Outline an approach to amphetamine dependence and withdrawal

This event is for GPs, Registrars, Nurses and other Primary Health Care Professionals and has been allocated 4 Category 2 points in the RACGP and ACRRM QI & CPD Program for the 2017-19 triennium.
