In this webinar we will explore the great relationship that can be built between these two professional groups.

Background information covering areas such as psychology training and expertise will be provided.

The various roles of the GP and psychologist will be discussed, as well as key aspects of this partnership (e.g. communication), and accessing psychology services.

Presented by general practitioner Dr Cate Howell and facilitated by Senior Medical Educator Dr Simon Hay, this webinar is aimed at senior registrars soon moving into practice as a registered GP.

About the presenter

Dr Cate Howell is a general practitioner, therapist, educator and author, who directs a multidisciplinary private practice focussing on mental health, therapy and coaching. Cate won a year 2000 Churchill Fellowship and completed a PhD on depression.

She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Adelaide, represents the RACGP on a number of committees, and is a consultant to various GP training organisations.

Cate has been involved in research and teaching for many years and, with a passion for writing, has authored five books (on depression, anxiety, counselling, intuition and emotional eating).

About the facilitator

Simon is a Senior Medical Educator at GPEx and part of his role is senior year registrar education. Simon is a practising GP and GP supervisor at University Health, the University of Adelaide.
