Rural Practice Team Workshop

Embracing great communication and creating a culture of professional supportive service and care were just a few of the topics covered in a full-day professional development and rural practice team workshop delivered by GPEx and Country SA PHN on Saturday 7th April 2018 at the Port Lincoln Hotel.

Over 30 Practice Managers and administration teams joined us from across the North and West region to engage in the workshop delivered by facilitator and presenter Marion McKay.

Marion’s extensive experience in training and human resource management was extremely well received with participants describing the quality of the education as excellent and entirely relevant to their practice.

Nikki Meredith, Practice Manager from The Investigator Clinic took some time out to chat to us recently about what she appreciated most from this workshop, noting, in particular, the training and case studies around handling difficult conversations as very helpful as front desk team members are often faced with this in their day-to-day interactions with patients.

“I think because the presenter has worked for many years in general practice she was able to relate her work experience and was able to provide relevant scenarios to our staff”

Nikki also described the session on communication and understanding self and others as very beneficial in that it provided the team with immediate practical tools that they could take back into their practice. Nikki noticed many of her staff members applying these new training skills upon returning to work.

This workshop was particularly well received as it provided a unique and valuable opportunity for whole practice teams to attend professional development educations sessions as a team, with an added benefit of interaction and networking with other practices’ teams.

Thank you to Nikki for your feedback and to all Practice Managers and administrative staff for your attendance, excellent evaluations and continued support for these workshops. This has ensured that further full day workshops will continue to be delivered in your region and others
