Help shape how the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program delivers bowel cancer screening education to Australia’s healthcare professionals.
About the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Education and Advisory Group

We are inviting expressions of interest from healthcare professionals passionate about increasing cancer screening to join the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Education and Engagement Advisory Group.
This group, overseen by GPEx and supported by the Department of Health and Aged Care, will serve an advisory role in the co-design of healthcare professional education and engagement strategies aimed at increasing participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
All education materials will be free and available via the National Bowel Cancer Screening Learning Hub for clinicians across Australia.
Members of the group will:
- Advise on education and engagement strategies for healthcare providers.
- Provide insights on how to improve healthcare provider screening advocacy and uptake, particularly for under-screened populations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the healthcare provider education is culturally safe and meets the needs of health professionals.
The group will be chaired by an independent healthcare professional and will include a diverse range of healthcare professionals from sectors, including primary care, tertiary, nursing, pathology, pharmacy, and allied health.
Please note that the strategic advice being sought from the Advisory Group does not extend to National Bowel Cancer Screening Program policy or implementation.

Who Should Apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from GPs, nurses, tertiary sector professionals, allied health professionals, pharmacists and pathologists who:
- have an interest in public health, cancer screening, or patient advocacy and/or
- work with under-screened populations, including Indigenous Australians, rural communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

- Participation in virtual or in-person meetings every two months for approximately 12 months.
- Involvement in strategic discussions, content testing, and feedback activities.
- Collaboration with other experts to develop engagement strategies that address barriers to increase participation in screening.
