Stephanie is an experienced leader, CEO and non-executive director. She has close to 20 years of experience in the health sector, with most of those supporting general practice.
Stephanie has training in law, governance, science and change management and is experienced in strategy, operational management and business development.
She has held management and leadership positions with the RACGP, including bi-college projects with the ACRRM and with RTOs and SA Health.
Stephanie is passionate about working with organisations to improve lives and create positive social impact.
Dr Paul Dilena
Director Medical Education and Training
GPEx invests in the selection, recruitment and continuing professional development of our Medical Educators. We have developed a strong reputation in our sector and we are regularly approached by GPs seeking these roles.
Paul oversees GPEx’s team of medical educators, leading our organisation’s focus on training excellence and innovation that sets us apart in our field.
He also provides leadership to medical educators nationally through additional governance roles.
A practising GP who has worked across metropolitan and rural South Australia, Paul has a strong background in medical education, previously holding the positions of Director of GP Training at Flinders Medical Centre and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
He is a Quality Assurance examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, has completed a Masters in Clinical Education, and holds postgraduate qualifications in Dermatology and Reproductive Health.
Chief Finance and Risk Officer
We’re building a stronger and healthier GP sector for South Australia.
Tim is a chartered accountant with a law degree and a background in corporate insolvency.
As GPEx’s Chief Finance and Risk Officer, he is responsible for the organisation’s financial operations, as well as risk management, compliance/legal and contracts.
Prior to joining GPEx, Tim worked in a range of professional service firms and then as Chief Financial Officer for local government and not-for-profit organisations.
Dr Simon Hay
Deputy Director Medical Education and Training
I had a fantastic GP supervisor when I was a registrar in Scotland who was really supportive. He wanted me to be there, to teach me and to make me a good GP. At GPEx we’re making this difference on a grand scale, supporting our registrars to become the best GPs they can be.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Simon is a GP who has practised in outer metropolitan Adelaide, Port Lincoln and the University of Adelaide health clinic.
He brings his experience in rural practice to his work at GPEx, leading the ACRRM specialist team that supports ACRRM registrars at GPEx.
Simon also works with registrars who need additional education support during their training.
He develops and delivers workshops for registrars, supervisors and practice managers, and helps registrars prepare for their exams.
Chief Operating Officer
I am passionate about challenging the status quo to build greater efficiencies in support of a sustainable future.
Inge is focused on leading business growth initiatives aimed at positioning GPEx for long-term sustainability. Inge is responsible for leading non-AGPT education operations;, marketing, sales, business administration and facilities.
Prior to joining GPEx, Inge worked in executive leadership positions across diverse portfolios in Australia, the UK, and South Africa.
Inge has tertiary qualifications in science and adult education, and is currently undertaking an MBA through UniSA.
She also has experience in training, operational strategy, governance, and business development.
Leah van Hemert

As the Chief Technology Officer at GPEx, Leah manages and sets the technology strategy in alignment with GPEx’s vision, and leads her team in the management and delivery of IT systems and services.
Leah has extensive experience in the ICT and Digital spheres across multiple industry sectors. She has over a decade’s experience in strategy and leading diverse teams in digital transformation, innovation, software development, service delivery, and project and change management.
Prior to joining GPEx, Leah held a number of senior roles, including Head of Strategic Delivery and Content for the Department of Health & Human Services in Victoria.
She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and holds a Bachelor of Computer and Information Science and a Diploma of Leadership and Management.
Director AGPT Program
The GPEx AGPT team is dedicated to ensuring the smooth delivery of general practice training to develop our future GPs, so they can support the health and wellbeing of our urban, rural and remote South Australian communities.
Helen is responsible for the AGPT team that manages the delivery of the training program to GP registrars in South Australia, and ensures that practices, supervisors and registrars are well-supported.
Having worked across all areas of the AGPT Program since joining GPEx in 2017, Helen’s knowledge of the program, and the health sector more broadly, is extensive.
Prior to joining GPEx, Helen worked in management roles for over 15 years with organisations delivering programs that supported general practice, and in particular, the rural South Australian GP workforce.
She brings this experience, particularly the attraction of doctors into the GP speciality, support for International Medical Graduates, and the retention of GPs in rural SA, to her role at GPEx.
Chief People and Culture Officer
I am excited to support our people here at GPEx so they work in an environment with contemporary HR standards where they feel looked after, which in turn reflects the desire for innovation and excellence in what GPEx does in the general practice and health space.
As GPEx’s Chief People and Culture Officer, Sarah is responsible for working collaboratively across the organisation to provide professional human resource support and advice to staff, assistance and direction on a diverse range of HR areas particularly during periods of change and uncertainty.
Prior to joining GPEx, Sarah worked as a Senior Human Resources Consultant at a HR advisory firm and was a Business Services Manager at South Australia’s key wine industry body, the South Australian Wine Industry Association Incorporated.
She has tertiary qualifications in law and human resources, and is also an accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainer.
Apart from her human resources skills, Sarah also has experience in culture change, organisational effectiveness and employee engagement.
