The GPEx Research and Innovation team works collaboratively with universities, industry groups and GP Colleges to produce high-quality research that builds a stronger future for general practice.

Our research has practical, real-world applications that allows us to:

  • monitor the performance of our training programs to ensure we continue to provide training and education to the highest level;
  • implement quality and innovative training improvements and solutions;
  • support our training partners, especially supervisors and accredited practices;
  • improve training conditions and working environments for registrars; and
  • strengthen the GP training pipeline by investigating how we can encourage more junior doctors to choose general practice as a career.

Another key focus of the Research and Innovation team is building GP research capacity, including supporting the development of GPs with research skills through
Academic Posts.
