ReturnToWorkSA – bespoke digital learning environment

Overview

gpex has been a long-term partner of ReturnToWorkSA (RTWSA), developing eLearning content for a host of its audiences and needs. The partnership has resulted in multiple online courses being hosted and managed separately, with nine courses operating over time.

gpex identified an opportunity to improve the learner and administrative experience by designing and developing a bespoke digital learning environment for ReturnToWorkSA. The aim was to bring the courses together in one branded location, creating a seamless transition from the ReturnToWorkSA website and making it easier for participants to find, access and complete relevant learning.

Challenges

The project required gpex to bring a large amount of information together in a way that was clear, accessible, and easy to navigate. This included online learning modules, resources, and links that could exist together without the site feeling cluttered or difficult to use.

Another key challenge was ensuring the courses could be grouped in a way that made sense for different roles and audiences. Participants needed to be able to quickly identify the learning most relevant to them, while ReturnToWorkSA needed a solution that reflected its brand and felt like a natural extension of its own digital environment.

From an administration perspective, the existing model also created complexity. Courses were managed across different contracts and hosting arrangements, which made oversight and coordination more difficult than it needed to be.

The GPEx Solution

Solutions

gpex developed a purpose-built OneSite for ReturnToWorkSA: a branded digital learning environment with learning management system functionality. The site was designed to host, display and group courses in one location, while also bringing together relevant resources and supporting information. The design process applied deliberate user experience and interface design principles to ensure the learner journey was carefully considered. This included structuring the site so participants could move easily from the ReturnToWorkSA website into the learning environment, navigate courses intuitively and access the resources they needed without confusion. The solution also consolidated course hosting and administration into one environment. This provided ReturnToWorkSA with a more streamlined approach to managing its education assets, reducing fragmentation across courses, contracts, and hosting arrangements.

Outcomes

The OneSite solution gave ReturnToWorkSA a single, branded place where participant needs could be supported. Courses and resources were brought together in one digital environment, improving visibility, accessibility, and navigation for learners. For ReturnToWorkSA, the solution also created administrative efficiencies by consolidating hosting and contract management. This provided greater coherence and oversight across its suite of education offerings. The project demonstrated how digital education can move beyond individual modules to become an integrated learning ecosystem. By considering the full learner journey, from discovery and access through engagement and completion, gpex delivered a solution that supported both participant experience and organisational management needs.

Conclusion

This project showcased gpex’s ability to design education through a multi-dimensional lens. Rather than focusing only on content development, gpex considered how learners would discover, access, engage with and progress through education. Through OneSite, gpex demonstrated how platform design, user experience and accessibility pathways are as important as the learning content itself. The result was a cohesive digital education environment that helped ReturnToWorkSA bring its courses, resources and administration together in one clear and purposeful ecosystem.
