About This Program

GPEx has partnered with SA Health to conduct a comprehensive study to evaluate the impact of its new Palliative Care Connect service on primary care. Palliative Care Connect provides vital information and links to palliative care and bereavement supports for General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, and patients, carers and family members in South Australia.

GPEx has developed our Palliative Care Education Program for GPs, GP Registrars, Nurses and other Primary Care providers working with palliative care patients. There are a range of activities within the program, designed for you to customise your experience based on your learning needs.

Although the live event has already taken place, we invite you to watch the recorded session, this insightful webinar for GPs, GP Registrars, and Practices Nurses and other Primary Care providers aims to enhance their palliative care management skills.

Throughout the webinar, you will find discussions centering on:

• Defining the role of the GP in Palliative Care.
• Identifying practical strategies to build capability within your practice team for palliative care.
• Reviewing relevant referral pathways for Palliative Care.
• Identifying when to apply appropriate billing codes for palliative care services, including GPMPs, home visit items, and telehealth items.

This is the first of a two-part series, focusing on practical advice on overcoming common barriers such as time constraints and home visit challenges.

Guest Speaker

Dr Chris Moy is a General Practitioner from Adelaide. 
Chris recently completed a role as Federal Australian Medical Association Vice-President and, prior to this, was Chair of the Federal AMA Ethics and Medico-legal Committee for 4 years. He also recently completed a term as AMA South Australia President.

He has participated in many initiatives related to aged and end-of-life care including the Expert Advisory Panel of the SA Advance Directives Review and the SA Health End of Life Decision Making Project – with the latter developing the Resuscitation Plan-7 Step Pathway which is the standardised end of life clinical plan used across SA. He recently completed the role of Chair of the SA Voluntary Assisted Dying Implementation Taskforce.

This webinar is the first activity in a comprehensive education and evaluation program.
