New Sleep Disorder Guidelines – A Resource for GPs
GPEx has joined forces with the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) to deliver a suite of educational events, free of charge, crafted to enrich general practitioners’ competencies concerning newly released obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and insomnia guidelines by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). This collaboration aims to enhance the treatment of sleep disorders through a series of workshops and webinars that disseminate these guidelines and emphasise their practical integration into everyday clinical practice.
Leveraging the comprehensive, evidence-informed NHMRC guidelines designed for the evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, our partnership with the ASA highlights the necessity of current, research-backed protocols in improving patient outcomes. The initiative was sparked following the guidelines’ introduction at the RACGP conference in November 2022, with the ASA taking the helm in their ongoing promotion and relevance.
The educational initiative had its first event in Brisbane and plans to maintain momentum with future workshops across various cities, including Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth. By participating in these sessions, GPs have the opportunity to refine their management strategies for sleep disorders, a reflection of GPEx’s dedication to maintaining high standards of continuing medical education for improved patient care.
