About this program

GPEx has partnered with SA Health to conduct a comprehensive study to evaluate the impact of its new Palliative Care Connect service on primary care. Palliative Care Connect provides vital information and links to palliative care and bereavement supports for General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, and patients, carers and family members in South Australia. Our research focuses on assessing the influence of these services on primary health professionals, identifying economic benefits, enhancing patient and caregiver outcomes, and measuring overall satisfaction with the service.

GPEx has developed our Palliative Care Education Program for GPs, GP Registrars, Nurses and other Primary Care providers working with palliative care patients. There are a range of activities within the program, designed for you to customise your experience based on your learning needs.

This program has been designed for Healthcare professionals to customise their experience based on individual learning needs. Choose from the below activities:

Activity 1 – Palliative Care Hacks Webinar (1.5 EA hours)

Join us for an insightful webinar for GPs, GP Registrars, and Practices Nurses and other Primary Care providers aiming to enhance their palliative care management skills. This is the first of a two-part series, focusing on practical advice on overcoming common barriers such as time constraints and home visit challenges.

Live sessions for this webinar have finished, you can view the recording here.

Activity 2 – Palliative Care Case Studies Webinar (0.5 EA & 1 RP hours)

Join us for our second webinar presented by Dr Chris Moy focusing on real-life case studies and the importance of early recognition and proactive management of palliative care patients. Through detailed case studies, you’ll learn how to recognise early signs of decline in patients with conditions such as dementia, chronic heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The session will emphasise culturally sensitive communication, the use of advanced care planning, and the critical importance of medication review and symptom management. Attendees will also discover how to effectively utilise community resources, including Palliative Care Connect, to support patients and their caregivers.
