Receive expert insights, education, and support tailored to each phase of your professional path.

A 9-month career development program designed to fulfill your CPD requirements while providing structured guidance for General Practitioners (GPs) and International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

Through seven LIVE and interactive online workshops, you’ll gain essential insights into career planning, self-reflection, and practical strategies to achieve both professional and personal success. 

Beyond learning, you’ll connect with like-minded peers, work in supportive groups, and build a strong professional network—helping you navigate your GP career with confidence and clarity. 


Program Content

Workshop 1: Where Am I Now?

Guiding GPs to reflect on their current professional situation, identify strengths and weaknesses, and set meaningful career goals. 

Topics Covered

  • Importance of self-assessment in career planning. 
  • Tools for evaluating personal values, strengths, and passions. 
  • Identifying areas of professional satisfaction and dissatisfaction. 
  • Setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals. 
  • Developing a personal career vision statement. 
Workshop 2: Your Career

Introducing GPs to the diverse career options available within and outside clinical practice, and how to explore these opportunities. 

Topics Covered

  • Career pathways in general practice (e.g. rural medicine, academia, leadership roles, special interests). 
  • Exploring non-clinical roles (e.g. healthcare management, policy, medical education, consulting). 
  • Pros and cons of pursuing advanced studies or specialisation. 
  • Navigating part-time and flexible work opportunities. 
Workshop 3: Work-Life Balance + Wellbeing

Explore strategies for maintaining work-life balance and prioritising wellbeing while pursuing career ambitions. 

Topics Covered

  • Signs of burnout and how to prevent it. 
  • Strategies for managing time and setting boundaries. 
  • Stress management techniques (mindfulness, exercise, and mental health support). 
  • How to balance career ambitions with personal life and family responsibilities. 
Workshop 4: Networking, Mentorships + Professional Relationships

Highlighting the importance of networking and mentorship for career growth and how to build meaningful professional connections. 

Topics Covered

  • The role of mentorship in career development and how to find, or become a mentor. 
  • Networking strategies for GPs (online and offline). 
  • Using social media and professional networks (e.g., LinkedIn, medical societies). 
  • Building a support system for career and personal growth. 
Workshop 5: Career Transitions

Providing practical advice and strategies for GPs considering a career transition, whether it’s changing roles, specialties, or work settings. 

Topics Covered

  • Steps for transitioning to a new role or practice (e.g., preparing your CV, handling interviews, negotiating contracts). 
  • Understanding the challenges of switching specialties or working in different settings (e.g., private practice, hospital settings, research). 
  • How to manage uncertainty and overcome challenges during career transitions. 
  • Identifying transferable skills and acquiring new ones. 
Workshop 6: Financial Planning + Preparing for the Future

Providing GPs with strategies to sustain and grow their career over the long term while ensuring personal and professional fulfillment.

Workshop 7: Reflections + Next Steps

Providing GPs with practical advice and strategies to keep the Career momentum going beyond this course.

+ Follow-up Support and Resources

After each webinar, participants will receive access to a recorded session, supplementary resources (e.g., reading materials, templates), and access to an online forum for continued discussions.

+ Personalised Action Plans

After each session, participants will be encouraged to create action plans based on the webinar topics and share them in follow-up sessions for accountability.

+ Peer Support and Accountability

Small group peer meetings can be organised throughout the program to share experiences and discuss progress.


CPD Accreditation

Each online workshop is CPD accredited with the following organisations for the 2023-2025 triennium:

Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP):

  • Educational Activities: minimum 0.5 to 1 hour each workshop (Total 5.5 to 7 EA hours)
  • Reviewing Performance: minimum 0.5 each workshop and 0.5 each post-workshop self-logged activity (Total 7 RP hours)
  • Measuring Outcomes: optional self logged guided activity

Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM):

  • Educational Activities: minimum 0.5 to 1 hour each workshop (Total 5.5 to 7 EA hours)
